The Society now has five club layouts under construction, two available for exhibition and one on exhibition in the clubhouse. Our ninth (OO) layout is too new to include here yet! There are opportunities for modelling at all stages for novice or experienced modellers and we hope you will be interested to join us,
- Click on the photos to go the detail pages or use the menu above. I am starting to update the detail pages (May 2014)

OO Modern Traction    Banks Road      available for exhibition

Banks Road is completed and debuted at the MMRS 2012 exhibition. A well-modelled, DCC-controlled modern image layout, it is 30ft long but only 3ft deep and has a fiddle yard at one end. It is operated from the front. Modelling has now largely stopped on this layout although some portability work may still be done.

OO GWR Steam    Cwmbach-yn-Triardd    undergoing rebuild

Cwmbach-yn-Triardd is a steam era Great-Western layout that has been to several exhibitions & has appeared in Model Rail magazine. A DCC (& computer) controlled layout, it is 24ft by 12ft continuous run and is operated from the centre well. It was taken to the 2013 exhibition -  Minor work and modifications continue.

TT Scale    Market Northrop    on exhibition in our clubhouse

This classic DC-controlled layout in TT is the successor to Castleby - see below. Although it won't be going to exhibitions, it is on display in the clubhouse and stock runs regularly. A DC controlled layout, it is 28ft by 10ft continuous run, operated from the centre well - where most of our TT modellers' efforts are now focused on building the TT exhibition layout - see below.

TT Steam era    East Baston    available for exhibition

A new TT, DC-controlled exhibition layout is now complete. It is an end-to-end layout with a station, shed and yard. Track is laid and scenic work is complete. Minor work and modifications continue.

British N Gauge     advanced planning stage

A British outline layout, based on the late steam, early diesel era, 15ft long and 3ft deep is now being built. It will be (very loosely) based on the Golden Valley line and specifically Pontrilas. It is still quite early in the construction stage and tracklaying is still to start so if you have an interest in N Gauge and would like to be involved please contact us.

EM Gauge   Hadlow Road under construction   (West Kirby Joint available for exhibition)

Moving on from West Kirby joint, the same team have now built the boards and laid the track for the next stage.  It is a DCC-controlled, end-to-end layout of modest proportions. If you are interested in modelling in this finer 4mm/ft scale and in scratch-building from the prototype, please contact the group. The track is now laid and scenic work is progressing.

OO finescale     under construction

This well-constructed, DC-controlled, 23ft by 7ft continuous run, steam-era layout is now being actively modelled by a new team. Track laying and wiring is continuing and scenic work is in progress. If this appeals to you, please come and join the modelling team.

new OO layout    under construction

A team has now completed a full set of baseboards and have laid track and put in wiring for this continuous-run OO layout. Further wiring and scenic work are now in progress. New modellers interested in modern image are very welcome.

HO American    new N&W layout   just started end-2016

The 16-track fiddle yard from Mauch Chunk PA (see below) has been shortened and will become the yard for this new layout based on the N&W. If you are interested in learning to lay track & pointwork, wire a layout to DCC and build scenery this is a great opportunity. Non American-modellers are very welcome

N Gauge continental    Wassenen    retired but available for exhibition

Wassenen is our continental N-gauge layout and has been out to exhibition several times. It is a DC-controlled continuous run layout and is 12ft long and 3ft deep operated from the back and ends. Modelling is complete on this layout and it has been recently removed from the clubhouse.
